History, Science Experiments & Reading Groups

For the past couple of weeks we have been working really hard for Miss. Lavan. In history we looked at some old reading books (readers) Ms. Taylor and Miss. Lavan read when they were little. We talked about some of the similar features these books have to our own readers. We also talked about how they were different too.

We have been enjoying science this term as we get to perform lots of experiments.  We wanted to know what would happen if we mixed washing detergent, cooking oil and water together. Would they mix successfully or not?

 Water + Detergent =

Create bubbles and mixed successfully. (Zoe)
 Oil + Detergent =

Made bubbles and the liquid was shiny. (Daisy)

Water + Oil =
The oil sat on the top of the water. It did not mix. (Genevieve)

Water + oil + detergent =

Made lots of bubbles and could mix together. (Georgia)
We have been reading a lot these past weeks.  We have been participating in group reading activities, working in pairs and small groups on comprehension tasks and whole-class choral reading.
